REAL WEDDING N & A
“Lucky” doesn’t even begin to cover it! It all started with a fateful night out - Nikki hit that follow button on Angus’s Instagram, setting destiny in motion. Enter Angus, sliding confidently into Nikki’s DMs… only to realise he’d completely mistaken her for someone else. Plot twist- it turns out mistaken identity can lead to the best kind of marriages.
The Proposal
We were in Stockholm, and of course, I made Angus have a full photoshoot for the ‘gram post proposal. It was beautiful, and a memory we’ll treasure forever.
Wedding Planning
I invested in a wedding planner because I was having a marquee wedding, and my planner also covered styling and day-of coordination. Caroline Smyth Bickerstaff from The Creative Occasion Co. was my absolute lifesaver. I had initially wanted to do everything myself, I love being creative, but now, seeing what it takes to plan a wedding, I can’t believe I ever thought I could DIY while working full-time. Caroline was incredible; “amazing” doesn’t even come close. She’s one of the hardest-working, most inspiring people I’ve ever met.
I did have a few changes along the way, including switching my florist about a year before the wedding. Natalie and Craig from Lucienne Luxe delivered the most iconic structures for the marquee, and even three weeks later, I still had flowers from our day in my flat!
Trying on the Dresses
I tried on lots of dresses just for fun and to rule out options, but I knew I had a favourite. My stylist team - Jenna, Karen, Heather, and Lucy - were brilliant throughout the process.
Yes to the Dress!
It was love at first sight - the first dress I saw online was the one I tried on first in the boutique, and the decision felt so natural. I’m usually so indecisive, but I felt confident from the very start. My gown was the Rozalli by Eva Lendel, and it was absolutely perfect.
The Big Day
Our wedding took place in a marquee at my parents’ farm, and the effort my dad put in to make everything perfect was unforgettable. We had an ivory-lined marquee with a champagne carpet, and I chose a colour palette of nude, ivory, and chartreuse, complemented by moss napkins and nude Verona tablecloths. Everything came together so beautifully, I wouldn’t change a thing.
Entertainment was provided by The Distractions, who travelled from Nottingham. They were incredible, and I literally danced around the whole night.
Instead of a traditional top table, we had a serpentine table called “home,” surrounded by our closest family - something that made the day feel even more intimate and special.
Reactions & Memories
When I walked down the aisle, Angus simply said, “I like what you picked,” and it was the perfect reaction.
Being married is amazing; every time I think about it, I remember that I get to do life with this person forever. My advice for other couples? Breathe, and always care deeply in everything you do.
Nikki and Angus’s day was a beautiful mix of elegance, personality, and heartfelt moments - a true celebration of love surrounded by family, friends, and unforgettable details.
