FAQ

Alterations & Fitting Services

When you order your gown with us, we take your measurements to ensure your dress is ordered in the closest size to you. While we offer an in-house alteration service for RBA members, availability is limited, so we recommend booking in advance.

We also work closely with our trusted external alteration specialists to ensure your gown is perfectly fitted in a timely manner.

All alterations are subject to an additional charge depending on the changes requested. Your purchase order T&Cs apply, as do contracts for any subsequent alteration requests. The following FAQ is provided as a guide only and does not replace your agreed terms and conditions..

  • Wedding dress alterations are the tailoring and adjusting of your wedding dress. Without alterations, your designer wedding dress may not be a close body fit to highlight your silhouette.

At AP we offer limited inhouse alterations that are subject to an additional charge based on what you have altered.

  • The answer is almost always, yes. Most dresses will need alterations given that the bride wants the very best fit!

There is no obligation to have your fittings with us, if you wish to take it somewhere else, then you absolutely can.

  • As RBA members, we are pleased to offer an in-house alteration service for those who have purchased their bridal gown with us.

Our in-house alteration service is limited, so we recommend scheduling your fitting as early as possible to secure a convenient appointment. If you prefer to be fitted elsewhere or need to adjust your appointment, we can accommodate this where possible.

Please note that appointments fill up quickly, so early booking is advised.

For fitting appointment, a £50 booking fee is required to secure your alteration appointments with our seamstress. This non-refundable fee covers both fittings required to ensure your gown is the perfect fit, with pre-fitting consultations also charged at £50.

  • The majority of brides will need two fittings. We aim to schedule 8 weeks and 4 weeks before your wedding.

For your first fitting you will be appointed a trained dress fitter who will take your measurements, pin the areas of your gown that need to be altered and take a series of reference photos. You will sign for and pay your alterations at this first appointment. Alterations will not be carried out until your balance has been settled.

On your second fitting you will try on your gown to check the fit of the adjustments. Your fitter will go over each alteration as part of our quality control and will take measurements and images for reference.

  • Your appointment is best held in a clean and calm environment with minimal traffic. This will help to minimise wear to your dress and allow your fitter to focus on you.

For this reason we ask that you bring a maximum of two guests. Unfortunately we cannot accommodate young children in fitting appointments.

  • Yes! We would recommend that you have all of your dresses fitted at the same time. For this we would book you a longer appointment.

  • For your alterations to be carried out you must bring a few items. You will need your bridal shoes so that the hem of your dress can be adjusted.

You will also need an appropriate bra should you plan to wear one. This will allow us to fit the bust correctly. We stock bust cups for those who wish to go bra-less.

Although we do not need them for fitting, we find that most of our clients want to test run their underwear as a way of avoiding VPL. Feel free to bring a range of options to try on with your dress.

To summarise, you will need shoes & suitable underwear.

  • We completely understand that you want to feel your best, but tan and foundation can mark your dress.

Before your appointment, it is good practice to wash your hands, neck and wipe of any transferable tan/deodorant/makeup to minimise the risk.

Ultimately, there are no strict rules on this one! It is the bride’s responsibility. Anne Priscilla bridal cannot be held liable for any stains or marks created in your appointment.
