#APVIP - Kimberley
Today we share Kimberley's love story not only with her husband Barry, but also her world wind bridal experience. Having visited the Ap boutique as a bridesmaid Kimberley was certain that she would return for her dream dress.
When Kimberley returned to Ap as a bride she was over the moon to try on her favourite designer under one roof. Having booked the venue it was decided that the dress would have to raise to the occasion and be equally grand and romantic. When our Ap stylist pulled out the Karen dress, Kimberly was ecstatic to see the dress she had been dreaming of. Needless to say that no other dress could compete and she joined the ever growing group of brides who find "the one" at their very first dress appointment!
Kimberly and Barry's wedding was filled with very pretty decor, flowers and gorgeous light-filled images. Since the big celebration we haven't stopped swooning over Kimberley's traditional wedding and wanted to share her beautiful love story...
TELL US ALL ABOUT THE PROPOSAL?
We had recently bought our first house together in April 2015 and needed a holiday to relax. We flew to Mexico in September and stayed at the same resort we loved the year before. I thought Barry was acting funny; more flirty and romantic than usual. He helped me pick my outfit for dinner one night which he never would normally do. We headed down to the restaurant and he suggested a walk to the beach to see the lunar eclipse which was happening that night. When we arrived at the beach, we were greeted by our butler who took us to a private dinner on the beach that Barry had organised just for us. It was just the two of us under the blood moon and stars, we had a small band playing music and shared a lovely meal. I remember saying to Barry this is the best night of my life before he got down on one knee with the ring and asked if I would marry him to which I responded, "are you joking?!".
WHAT DO YOU ADMIRE MOST ABOUT HIM?
Barry's always one step ahead, he is a forward thinker and plans are in place before I can even catch up.
DESCRIBE YOUR WEDDING STYLE IN 3 WORDS?
Personal , romantic and classic
WHEN YOU SAID YES WHAT DID YOU PLAN FIRST?
As soon as we got home from Mexico we looked at venues. We shopped around some of our favourite hotels which were soon eliminated due to availability for our dates.
I fell in love with the exterior of Hotel Colessio in Stirling and dragged Barry along for lunch to check it out and we booked it straightaway.
WHICH DRESS DID YOU CHOOSE?
Augusta Jones - Karen
HOW MANY DRESSES DID YOU TRY ON BEFORE FINDING "THE ONE"?
Zero! Yes, zero! I saw the dress on the hanging rack in Anne Priscilla and instantly fell in love! I pulled it out just enough to see the designer and style name. I wasn't ready to go dress shopping - I was in the store as a bridesmaid for my cousin's wedding. After thinking about it, I booked an appointment almost ten months since I first saw the dress. I recognised it straight away despite forgetting the details on the tag (which I had tried to memorise!). As soon as I saw it again, I was sold! The girls in AP put me in other dresses just to ensure I had the best experience in dress shopping but we all knew there was no competition for "the one"!
HOW DID YOU KNOW WHEN YOU HAD FOUND THE DRESS?
When I saw it on the hanger I had these excited butterflies and just knew! When I tried it on my knees were knocking with nerves and excitement and when I stepped out the curtain and showed my mum we both burst into happy tears. It was everything I'd ever wanted in a dress, it was just perfect for me.
WHEN YOU WALKED DOWN THE AISLE, WHAT WAS YOUR HUSBANDS REACTION?
He was very nervous and greeted me with the biggest smile and kiss - he said I looked amazing and beautiful.
WHATS THE BEST RELATIONSHIP ADVICE YOU HAVE EVER RECEIVED?
Don't go to bed angry.
WHAT WAS YOUR FAVOURITE MOMENT IN YOUR WEDDING DAY?
For photographs, Barry and I went to Stirling Castle. It gave us that sacred time together to take it all in.
WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST DANCE AS MR & MRS?
We danced to Paolo Nutini - Better Man.
WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO OTHER BRIDES-TO-BE?
Don't fret over tiny details or over spend on small trivial things. Spend your time on the dance floor and kiss your husband lots!
WHAT IS THE BEST PART OF BECOMING A MRS?
I'm Barry's wife - just saying it gives me butterflies.
